Environmental healthcare

Environmental healthcare covers assignments in accordance with the Health Protection Act, Food Act, Tobacco Act, and Act on Veterinary Service.

The food safety and environmental health units of the City environment sector's Environment services are responsible for the environmental healthcare assignments.

The food safety unit is responsible for monitoring, guidance, and expert assignments in accordance with the Food Act, including processing notifications for new food establishment and operator changes, inspections of food establishments, and investigations of complaints and suspected instances of food poisoning.

The food safety unit is also responsible for monitoring domestic water in accordance with the Health Protection Act and assignments in accordance with the Act on Veterinary Service, such as monitoring animal protection.

The Environmental health unit is partially responsible for monitoring, guidance, and expert operations in accordance with the Health Protection Act.

The environmental health department is responsible for the monitoring, guidance, and expert operations of housing health in accordance with the Health Protection Act, such as the processing of suspected health hazards and implementing repairs necessary in order to remove any health hazards.
