Public warning sirens

The population can be warned through several different methods. These include, for example, emergency warnings transmitted by the radio stations of the Finnish Broadcasting Company and local radio stations, emergency warnings transmitted by television channels and alarm signals given with the public warning sirens for people away from their homes.

There are 38 public warning sirens in the City of Helsinki and they are maintained by the Rescue Department. The location of the public warning siren closest to you can be checked from the City of Helsinki's service map.
