Geriatric Outpatient Clinic

With a doctor's referral, memory disorder reviews and examinations are performed for over 75-year-old Helsinki residents at the Geriatric Outpatient Clinic.

A geriatrician can without an appointment give the referring doctor written examination and care instructions.

The customers are invited to the clinic with their close relatives. The examinations review the memory functions and everyday functional abilities of the patient, as well as their possible psychological symptoms. A neuroimaging scan is often performed on the patient as a further treatment measure. The patient's medication is reviewed, a diagnose made and a treatment and rehabilitation plan for promoting everyday functional abilities is compiled. Further treatments and follow-ups for memory disorders take place at the patient's own health station, in home care or by a memory coordinator.

The Geriatric Outpatient Clinic has nurses who are specialised on memory disorders. The clinic organises also rehabilitation guidance.
