Criminal cases and legal representation of young people

Is responsible for the representation of the City's Social Services and Health Care Committee by supervising the best interests of children (Section 24 of the Child Welfare Act) during a child's criminal proceedings by participating in the police interrogations/interviews of minors and the court proceedings of 15 to 17-year-olds.

The social workers will evaluate the need for social work and other guidance and advice during all the transitional phases of a child's criminal process and, in this part, coordinate the cooperation between the police, social services, prosecutor's office and the judicial system.


The service is available only for citizens of Helsinki.
