This service is intended for an elderly person, whose apartment or its immediate surroundings include obstacles that make everyday activities difficult.
The aim is that the customer can live in his or her own apartment for as long as possible.
The most usual changes to the apartments include the widening of doors and the removal of thresholds and bathtubs.
The service is applied for via the social worker at the customer's own social and local work centre.
The price of the renovations is determined, based on the payment ability of the customer.
The building contractor of the Social and Healthcare Services' real estate service centre will draft a plan, which is implemented by private service providers.
An occupational therapist or a physiotherapist will assess the customer's functional limitations and a social worker will estimate the necessary renovations, based on the customer's abilities and the customer's financial situation, in co-operation with the customer.
The service is only for citizens of Helsinki.
