Work and day activities for the intellectually disabled
The objective of work and day activities is to provide meaningful activities that individually support the independence of the customer and his or her active participation in the society.
Work activities offer the chance to learn the rules of work life and consider individual career paths, in cooperation with the customer. The customer can also be guided towards the services of supported employment through work activities.
The activities can include various subcontracting and gardening works, crafts and work related to food, cleaning and laundry services.
Day activities support the customer's individual functional abilities and communication. For example, the activities may include music, sports and activities that aim to exercise the various senses and the perceiving of one's self.
The service is applied for from the social work unit of the customer's own residential area.
The service is provided by work and day activities or private service providers.
The meals will be charged from the customer. Otherwise, the services are free of charge for the customers. The Activity Centre will pay for the customers' commuting. Those coming in by public transport will be given a HSL travel card. For others, a transport service between their home and the activity centre will be arranged.
The customer is over 18 years old and has an intellectual disability.
