Rental housing application

An electronic service, through which it is possible to apply for a rental apartment from the city of Helsinki.

Process:

Rental housing is applied via e-services by using online banking identification or a mobile certificate. The application is saved in 'My folder' in the e-services and in the register for applicants. The register automatically defines the level of urgency for each application.

It is possible to make changes to the application via the e-services. An application is renewed by updating and resending it. An edited or a new application always replaces the previous application. An expired application cannot be renewed and the applicant must submit a new application. An application submitted via E-services can only be modified by the applicant herself.

It is possible to submit a rental housing application without online banking identification. In this case, the application can only be updated by contacting the customer service or by submitting a new application.

Each applicant can have only one housing application valid at a time. If a co-applicant submits his or her own application, the applicants' joint application is cancelled. If the primary applicant does not wish the application to be cancelled, he or she must remove the co-applicant from the application.

Expiration date:

An application is valid for three (3) months from the time it was submitted or last modified.

Payments:

Rental housing applications and the rental housing service are free of charge, and new occupants are not charged rental or other guarantees.

More information:

Because the number of apartments that become available is small and the number of applicants is very large, housing cannot be offered to everyone who wants it. The primary applicant must be at least 18 and have a Finnish social security number.
