Construction planning for the renovation of Kaisaniemi Park and Kaisaniemenranta’s park and street areas is currently underway. According to current estimates, the plans will be completed in early 2023.

As regards construction, the renovation work on Varsapuistikko Park and the northern viewing point has started this autumn. In addition, a few new trees will be planted in the park. For the coming years, the construction schedule will be specified later.

Kaisaniemi Park is the oldest public park in Finland and the oldest historical park in the city centre of Helsinki. The objective is to turn Kaisaniemi Park into verdant, pleasant and event-rich urban park. The park layers valuable in terms of history and cityscape will be preserved and highlighted. The development work will focus on traffic arrangements, restoration of park structures and reorganising park activities while taking into account cultural and landscape historical values.

The renewal and replenishment of the park’s valuable vegetation where necessary is also key. In addition, the water supply network and other municipal infrastructure located in the park area will be renovated.  These plans also cover Varsapuistikko Park and Kaisaniemenranta street.

The park and street plans are based on the current detailed plan.
