People over 70 in risk groups offered fourth COVID-19 vaccine dose

News about corona vaccinations in Helsinki.

People age 70 or older belonging to high-risk groups 1 and 2 can now receive the fourth dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. The vaccine is given without an appointment at the vaccination points once at least 3 months have passed since the third dose.

You can find the locations and opening hours of the vaccination points at hel.fi/vaccination.

“Age and underlying health conditions increase the risk of serious coronavirus disease, so we want to ensure that older people at risk receive the fourth dose as quickly as possible. The vaccine is easily available without an appointment,” says Timo Lukkarinen, Medical Director of Health Stations.

Appointments for fourth dose also possible starting next week

The appointment booking for the fourth dose will open to high-risk groups next week. The quickest way to book an appointment is at bookcovidvaccine.fi(Link leads to external service). You can also book an appointment by calling tel. 09 310 46300 (Mon–Fri 8.00–16.00).

Show ID or Kela card for vaccination

You can get the vaccination by showing your identity card or Kela card. You must demonstrate that you belong to an at-risk group if asked to do so at the vaccination point. This can be done by a copy of your medical history or by information extracted from the My Kanta service.

Persons who have recovered from COVID-19 currently not in need of fourth dose

Currently, a fourth dose of COVID-19 vaccine will not be administered if the person has received three doses of the vaccine and has been infected with coronavirus.
