Matriculation Examination

Students take the Matriculation Examination at the end of their general upper secondary studies. The Matriculation Examination is a maturity test in which students demonstrate their knowledge and skills acquired during general upper secondary education.

The Matriculation Examination consists of at least 4 tests. All students take the test in Mother tongue and choose three other tests in compulsory subjects. If they so wish, they can choose to take one or more additional tests.

The Matriculation Examination is organized twice a year over test periods in March-April and in September-October, simultaneously at all general upper secondary schools in Finland. The examination can be taken all at once or over three consecutive examination periods.
