Helsinki City Board annually allocates a budget for employment-related services. The budget is used to employ jobless Helsinki residents at City of Helsinki units, to organize training for jobless Helsinki residents and to subsidize associations, foundations and businesses. Employment subsidies are used to implement projects that promote employment.
The Employment Committee monitors the use of the employment budget allocated by the City Board and the execution of the cooperation agreement between the City of Helsinki and the Uusimaa public employment and business office.
The City Executive Office’s Economic Development division oversees the management of the City’s employment-related affairs. The division’s services related to employment are provided by the Employment Services and Enterprise Services units.
Employment support is provided by the Duuri employment services and by work rehabilitation services. These services are managed by the City of Helsinki Department for Social Services and Health Care.
