The primary purpose of the Architectural Division is to plan projects, buildings, structures, furnishings, institutional kitchens and landscapes for the city. Strategic planing of common areas like streets, parks and other green areas is very important task for the division. We also offer consultancy for measuring buildings, damaged structures, demolition and environmental issues and review plans produced by external consultants.
Our objective is to promote professional high-quality engineering and to produce and maintain a safe, healthy and ecologically sustainable building stock in Helsinki.
The City Architect acts as the head consultant in planning projects assigned to the Public Works Department and produces statements to be presented to the Public Works Committee.
The Architectural Division comprises four units: the Architectural Office, the Design Office, the Engineering Office and the General Design Office. City Architect Jukka Kauto is the director of the division.
