Around 60 species of fish have been found in the Helsinki sea area. The most commonly occurring fish species are: lamprey, Baltic herring, sprat, eel, pike, salmon, trout, whitefish, smelt, roach, chub, ide, minnow, rudd, tench, bleak, white bream, bream, vimba bream, crucian carp, burbot, viviparous eelpout, straightnose pipefish, deep-snouted pipefish, three-spined stickleback, nine-spined stickleback, bullhead, four-horned sculpin, bull-rout, lumpfish, perch, pikeperch, ruffe, sandeel, sand goby, turbot and flounder.
