Facts and figures about areas and phenomena
The Helsinki statistics describe living conditions and business life in Helsinki in terms of past, present and future. Small area statistics bring information closer to the inhabitants. Statistical comparisons describe Helsinki compared with other Finnish and European cities.
Basic statistics are kept regularly on such phenomena as
- living conditions and welfare services
- housing and construction
- business life
- employment and income
- urban environment
Thematic statistics form a part of the information production requested for the city’s future strategies and planning, and are drawn up on various topical issues. The thematic statistics are often published in English, as well.
The aim of international statistics co-operation is to promote access to comparable urban data. Scandinavian co-operation has the longest traditions, but today many other European cities have gained an increasing role in this co-operation, and so have international organisations and societies.
