Helsinki has 26 health stations. The health stations are open Mon – Fri 08.00 – 16.00 and one afternoon per week until 18.00.

Health stations services include:

  • Doctors and public health nurses’ consultations
  • Health guidance and information for mothers and children  
  • Family planning and contraceptive guidance and information

Helsinki residents are allowed to take laboratory tests in any of the over 60 HUCH Hospital Area laboratories (in Finnish) that take samples in the greater Helsinki area without an appointment. If you want to make an appointment for laboratory tests, you can make it with Laakso (in Finnish) or Malmi (in Finnish) hospital laboratory.

When your own health station is closed, urgent illnesses and accidents are cared for in the emergency health centres.

Call (09) 10023 for Information about Health Services when

  • you need instructions for treating illnesses or information on Helsinki health services
  • you think if you should go to a doctor, or whether rest would help.

Health care professionals will answer your call 24 h/day, for the price of a regular call.
