Individual programmes
The Youth Department’s longer-term individual programmes for young people in need of support provide for a wide range of measures. Examples of these programmes include Itäluotsi and Skanssi for young people in the eastern parts of the city, Koillisluotsi in the north-eastern districts and Länsiluotsi in the Haaga-Kaarela district.
Spinnu is a programme of targeted youth work in which the special focus is on 12 – 15-year-olds with a returning emigrant background.
You have the opportunity to take part in these activities if you are referred by an adult who works with groups of schoolchildren or other young persons. The services are produced jointly with the Health Centre and the Social Services Department.
Study motivation from Omaura
Nuorten Omaura (Young People’s Own Career) is a two-year way of completing the eighth and ninth classes of comprehensive school with an emphasis on working life. The programme is intended for young people who are in danger of not graduating with a certificate. The aim is to strengthen young people’s motivation to study and prevent exclusion from the education system.
