 Traffic training
Listen

Ride on! The traffic activities provide all 10-17-year-olds interested in motoring with something to do in a very cool environment. The Tattarisuo Traffic Training Centre offers training on moped riding and go-karting. In the area there are a go-kart track and a track for radio-controlled cars, a moped practice area and an off-road biking track. At the engine workshops, you can find tools and guidance to repair your own vehicle.

The Tattarisuo Traffic Training Centre hosts one of the few go-kart tracks in Helsinki. Make a reservation with your friends and come to experience this great track! The track is open in summer on Mondays.

Traffic Town open to all in summer

The Children’s Traffic Town is a training area where young people are taught how to behave in traffic. It is situated in Laakso. The courses arranged there in summer are open to all. For example participants can attend supervised lessons for cyclists, in addition to which there is a pedal car school for 5 – 7-year-olds and a cycling school over-8s. All activities are supervised and include teaching theory.

In the autumn, spring and winter months the Children’sTraffic Town is open to groups from schools and day-care centres.

Traffic training as a form of youth work

Traffic training began when the Children’s Traffic Town was founded in 1958. Its purpose is to provide children and adolescents with basic training in traffic skills and reduce the number of accidents in which they are involved.

The goals of traffic training are:

 - to get children interested in traffic
 - to ensure that children themselves get about safely in traffic
 - to create a positive attitude to traffic
 - to prevent traffic and other accidents
 - to make traffic signs and rules understandable to children and adolescents

Traffic training for children is intended to prompt an interest in traffic in the minds of children, to ensure that children know how to get about safely in traffic, to create a positive attitude to traffic, to prevent traffic and other accidents as well as to make young people familiar with traffic signs and rules.
