Helsinki City Museum has hosted online exhibitions since 1996. Over the years, the exhibitions have grown into a versatile Web Museum. New exhibitions are constantly under construction.
Some of the exhibitions are meant to complement the museum exhibitions and to be available to the public even after their tangible counterparts are no longer displayed. Others are independent exhibitions available online only.
This page presents our online exhibitions available in English. For all online exhibitions, please take a look at the Web Museum page in Finnish.

City Museum Picture Archive's Photographer Gallery
Helsinki City Museum's Picture Archives date back to 1906. The collections now contain photographs, slides, postcards and prints. The main theme is Helsinki, its environment and inhabitants, decision-makers, everyday life and festivities, home and street, not forgetting fashion and pets. The Museum's own photographers document those parts of Helsinki that are vanishing or undergoing change today, new phenomena and various events of the time. The Museum also receives many donations of picture material of different ages. Back to top
