Cultural environment preservation in Central Uusimaa

The Provincial Museum and the National Board of Antiquities are the building protection authorities for Central Uusimaa. The main task of the Provincial Museum is to manage the protection of cultural-historically valuable buildings and environment owned by municipalities and private individuals. The National Board of Antiquities monitors the protection of state, university and ecclesiastical buildings as well as their repair. In addition, the Board is responsible for the preservation of buildings protected under the Building Protection Act.
The Provincial Museum promotes the protection of the cultural environment in the municipalities by providing statements on planning and repair projects. Building Researchers and the Conservators provide expert services related to the preservation of the cultural environment in the Central Uusimaa Provincial Museum area.
Inventories at different levels have been made of the man-made environments in the municipalities. The municipalities strive to update these according to their needs and resources. The Provincial Museum participates in the control groups for programmes on the care and treatment of cultural environment, and the building investments of the municipalities.
