In 2007 the Cultural and Library Committee awarded grants amounting to over EUR 20 million to support art and culture. Approximately 55 percent of the total was awarded to professional theatres within the legal scope of the Theatres and Orchestras Act, while the remaining 45 percent was awarded to support other organisations. The most visible change within the operations of the Cultural Office was the reorganisation that was implemented at the beginning of the year. Three units were created within the office: Cultural Policies, Cultural Services and Shared Services. Read more

Spring 2007 was exceptionally busy for the Cultural Office in terms of events. Chinese New Year celebrations in February were organised for the time and proved to be a success. The office was also responsible for producing and co-ordinating city events connected with the Eurovision Song Contest. A fine example of an event that was produced by one of the venues was the Ourvision Song Contest at the International Cultural Centre Caisa. Read more
