The Public Works Department Street and Park Division issues permits for construction in public areas – streets, squares and parks. In addition, permits for non-commercial outdoor events are usually obtained from us.

The Department organises excavation training for excavation companies and institutions. The day-long course on the Helsinki permits system is organised 1-2 times per year. Information on the next course is available from the Liukumäentie Unit.

Other authorities issuing permits

Land use permits and land leases for commercial purposes are the responsibility of the Property Department.

• Land Division: stores selling garden supplies, vehicles and trailers, service stations and distribution equipment, cafés, restaurants, transformer substations
• Premises Centre: sales, marketing and advertising events, market places and halls

The Building Control Department is responsible for issuing permits related to house construction, such as permits for building, demolition and minor construction.
