Coins
Ticket machines and parking meters take 20 and 50 cent and 1 and 2 euro coins (some ticket machines take only 20 and 50 cent coins).
Parcard and Comet payment devices
After being used in Helsinki for more than ten years, the Parcard payment devices are being withdrawn. Parcards are no longer sold. Credit already downloaded onto the cards can be used.
Parcard is replaced by the Comet payment device. Sales of the new Comet is handled by Laatukilpi Oy. Read more >>
Credit card
More than forty ticket machines in the inner city accept credit cards. Visa, Eurocard, Mastercard, Diners Club, American Express and the OK Card are all accepted. List of ticket machines accepting credit cards...
Mobile phone
Two systems are used in Helsinki, allowing the user to pay for parking with their mobile phones.
Both methods are in use for all of Helsinki’s public parking spaces and require registration.
Single-use parking voucher
A single-use scratchcard parking voucher is valid for use as payment in all of the city’s parking spaces subject to a fee. The sale of the single-use parking vouchers has ended, but once bought vouchers (in euros) can still be used.
