This page contains guidelines connected to travelling on the metro. General guidance in regards to the public transport in Helsinki can be found under Getting around in Helsinki.
The starting point of the platform areas
are marked with yellow signs. Passengers entering this area should have valid tickets. SMS tickets should have been received on the mobile phones prior to entering this area.

Please stand
on the right hand side of the escalators, so that passengers who are in a hurry may pass by on the left hand side.

The stopping locations of short trains
are marked by a tape and with a blue light. The train is short, when the platform display flashes with the two train symbol.

Please do not block the doorways of the trains
when you are waiting to board, so that departing passengers may exit.
An audible warning accompanies the closing of the train doors.
At that time, it is no longer permitted to enter the train.
Bicycle transportation
is permitted on the metro, but should be avoided during peak periods. The bicycle should be led, and the elevator should be used for safety reasons.
When travelling with prams,
the elevator should be used for safety reasons.

The transportation of pets
is allowed on every second carriage. Such carriages, where the transportation of pets is not permitted, are marked with the relevant symbol.
For fire-safety reasons,
the trains do not contain any garbage receptacles. Please use the garbage receptacles available at the stations. The stations also have their own recyclable collection containers for the free newspapers..
