The Info Bank online service

The Info Bank online service supports immigrant integration by providing information on Finnish society and its services in 15 languages, from the perspective of the immigrant user.  Info Bank gathers basic information about permits, education and work, housing and social services, society, culture and leisure, and other issues.

Helsinki Region in Info Bank

Finnish language courses arranged in the Helsinki Region can be found through the online service at www.finnishcourses.fi. The Finnishcourses.fi course search service is intended for all those who have moved to Finland and would like to learn the language.

Your one stop shop for all things Helsinki - Virka

Virka Info is a public information service for Helsinki residents, located in the Helsinki City Hall lobby. The centre serves as a Citizens’ Office – a shared services centre of the Finnish Immigration Service, the Helsinki Register Office and the Police – and offers general information and advice on living and working in the Helsinki area as well as special advice and guidance on immigration issues. Guidance is provided in Finnish, Swedish, English, French, German, Russian, Bulgarian, Arabic, Turkish, Kurdi and Somali languages.

Helsinki Region

Helsinki Region is formed by the cities of Helsinki (population 578,000), Espoo (population 241,000), Vantaa (population 195,000) and Kauniainen (population 8,500) and 10 surrounding municipalities. Around 1.3 million inhabitants, one fifth of the Finnish population, live in the Helsinki Region.

HelsinkiRegion.fi -portal has been produced jointly by the cities of the Helsinki Metropolitan Area. The site provides an easy access to information about joint services and the decision making in the area. Read more

The Helsinki Region Infoshare project initiated by the cities of the Helsinki metropolitan area opens up the cities’ databases for everybody. The publicly available data can be found at the new web service www.hri.fi. The data can be utilized free of charge.

Specialist in immigration affairs in the City of Helsinki

The task of the Immigration Division is to advance the interests of the city and its inhabitants as regards immigration, immigrants and international migration. The department supports and directs the activities of city departments as regards the social integration of immigrants and the development of activities promoting equality and community spirit among the city people. In addition, the department participates in arranging initial counselling for recent immigrants. Read more
