The City of Helsinki has opened a discussion forum for residents, corporations and citizen groups, intended to gather ideas for better energy efficiency in buildings and transportation. The public forum is part of the City of Helsinki Sustainable Energy Action Plan.
The forum is open at http://www.energiatehokashelsinki.fi/en to June 28th. The discussion is in Finnish.
Helsinki joined the Covenant of Mayors agreement in January 2009. Helsinki agreed to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by no less than 20 percent by 2020 through the implementation of the Sustainable Energy Action Plan. The attainment of the goal requires seamless cooperation between the City, residents and corporations.
The best three ideas are awarded in October, and free tickets to Helsinki Festival and Flow Festival are distributed to commentators weekly.
