Passengers can use the service by writing or picking from the list the number of the bus line or address of the bus stop. The service returns the timetable in question and informs about possible traffic exceptions. Users can also save their own favorite timetables to the service after registration. Real-time passenger information provides passengers a forecast of the time in minutes when the next bus or tram arrives. Stop timetables with Upcode Helsinki city bus and tram stops are testing new electronic timetables which are operated by a mobile phone equipped with a camera, Internet access and the “Upcode” software. When the user points the phone’s camera at an Upcode smart screen at the stop, the phone automatically takes a picture which triggers the phone to perform the task defi ned in the smart screen: the phone accesses the Internet site that contains the stop’s timetable. The advantage compared to printed timetables is real-time service information. The system also makes announcements of service interruptions. The service is free of charge to users. HITS metropolitan area traffic information The HITS mobile service provides you with real-time traffic information and current weather information and a weather forecast. The information is presented on the mobile phone screen both as text and as icons on a map view. The service also shows the locations of parking facilities and taxi ranks, information about park-and-ride services, and information on public transport disruptions. The mobile service includes telephone numbers for taxi ranks and makes it possible to automatically telephone the taxi rank of your choice. The service provides updated traffic camera images from ten different locations. The service is easiest to download through a Nokia mobile phone's WAP browser. The application can be installed either in the phone’s internal memory or on a memory card.
