Administration Centre informs, guides and counsels residents

The City of Helsinki Administration Centre serves citizens with information available on the City website and in various publications. The centre also manages the City Hall’s information service and organizes exhibitions. It handles all City of Helsinki registrar’s operations and registrar customer service.

The Administration Centre’s Communications Office distributes information on the City decision making and services. Information is available in person, from printed publications and from the many channels of the City website. Virka Info answers questions about the City of Helsinki in person at the information desk located in the City Hall lobby, by telephone at +358 (0)9 310 11 111, and by email. The service index lists all City services.  
 

Helsinki-info is an information bulletin with six annual editions distributed to all Helsinki households and published on the web. News about City affairs are posted on the Internet in the City web portal www.hel.fi and in the Helsinki Region web portal, which also contains information on the neighbouring cities and municipalities. City-produced video, including City Council meetings, can be viewed on Helsinki-kanava (“Helsinki Channel”). 
 

The best source of information on City decision making is the City government webpages, which provide links to the documents of the City Council, City Board and its City Group Division, and the City committees and boards. Agendas are posted on the pages before meetings, City Council meetings can be viewed in live webcasts, and the decisions made by City bodies are first published in releases and later in meeting minutes.    

Registrar’s operations all in one place

The Administration Centre’s Registrar’s Office, located in the City Hall, receives documents, processes documents for handling and manages the presentation of documents. The Administration Centre organizes guided tours in the City Hall and gives guidance to City Hall visitors. Virka Gallery in the City Hall lobby organizes exhibitions and events for residents and visitors.  

The media and communicators are served by the Press Office, and they can register as users with the City of Helsinki Media Bank, which contains Helsinki photographs and other material meant for communication purposes.

The Administration Centre also handles various tasks that affect all of the City, including international co-operation, the City’s judicial and contractual affairs, and security.
