The 2011 Financial Statements of the City of Helsinki
‘’Year 2011 was economically more positive than expected. The tax revenue grew by 233 M euro due to the positive result of businesses as well as the increase in the municipal tax percentage. The operation costs were well under control and productivity improved. Also employment developed into a more positive direction than expected,’’ says Mayor Jussi Pajunen about the 2011 financial statements of the City of Helsinki Group.
The Economic and Planning Centre of the City of Helsinki is responsible for the following operations: economic planning, developing the administration, co-ordinating the IT services, finance, internal auditing, site development, housing programme and planning of industrial policy as well as related preparatory work for political decision making.
As an expert unit in management and deployment the Economic and Planning Centre serves the top management of the City and the city departments. The Centre operates as the City Board's overall executive organ for planning, preparing and monitoring. The Centre is in charge of preparing and matching the objectives and strategy alternatives related to developing the city. The Centre is also responsible for taking initiative either in the form of projects or individual measures.
