The Info Bank online information service became part of the City of Helsinki Communications Office on January 1st, 2012 and, at the same time, changed its status from a temporary project to an established, regular service.
Info Bank, at www.infopankki.fi, is primarily targeted at immigrants, immigration authorities, and those contemplating immigration to Helsinki or elsewhere in Finland. The service helps immigrants to settle in the country and integrate into Finnish society.
The service provides basic information about Finnish society and culture. Areas covered include housing, Finnish studies, employment opportunities, education, health care and social services. Information is provided in 15 languages.
In addition to basic information, there is local information provided and updated by Helsinki and the other partners Turku, Tampere, Mikkeli, Savonlinna, Pieksämäki, Kuopio, Rovaniemi, the Kainuu province, and Oulu. The Helsinki bureau covers the whole Helsinki region and is in charge of the development of the service.
In addition to the municipalities of the Helsinki region, Info Bank is financed by the Finnish Government and the other partnering municipalities and provinces.
